Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plans to gather supporters outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday. The demonstration aims to demand improved access and medical care for party founder Imran Khan. PTI leaders say the gathering will also protest his continued isolation while in custody. The announcement came from his sister, Aleema Khan, on Sunday.
PTI Announces Protest Outside Adiala Jail
Aleema Khan said PTI requested Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai to support the event. She added that Achakzai agreed to bring 10,000 people outside Adiala Jail.
According to Aleema, the gathering will take place on June 16 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. She explained that the protest intends to increase pressure on the government. Furthermore, participants will demand an end to Imran Khan’s prolonged isolation in prison.
Family Demands Hospital Visit for Eye Examination
Aleema Khan said the party wants authorities to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. She stated that he requires an eye examination under proper medical supervision. Moreover, she insisted that family members and personal physicians should remain present during the checkup.
She also emphasized that authorities should respect the rights of a former prime minister and political prisoner. Meanwhile, PTI leaders continue urging the government to improve Khan’s access to healthcare. The planned gathering is expected to draw significant public attention in Rawalpindi.
