ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf today nominated Omar Ayub as party’s candidate for Prime Minister slot.
PTI leader and former NA Speaker Asad Qaisar announced this development on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking to the media after holding a meeting with PTI founder at Adiala Jail, Asad Qaiser said that party secretary general Omar Ayub would be the party’s candidate for the prime minister’s slot.
He further said that Imran Khan would give a date later today for a countrywide protest campaign against alleged rigging in the Feb 8 polls.
Qaiser further said he had been given an “assignment” to engage with all political parties protesting against the poll results, specifically mentioning JUI-F, ANP and QWP.
“We want that we all form a strategy because the mandate was stolen — this was the worse and most rigged election in our history,” he said, adding that polls lacked “credibility”.
He said that the PTI founder Imran Khan and other senior leaders have endorsed the nomination of Omar Ayub as candidate of PTI for Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, following a series of deliberations among various political factions spanning the past forty-eight hours regarding the formation of the forthcoming government, it has been disclosed that the PML-N has consented to spearhead the upcoming federal administration contingent upon certain assurances.
Insiders within the PML-N have conveyed that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has committed to abstain from initiating a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly against the PML-N subsequent to securing the presidential position.
These sources indicate that as part of the mutually agreed-upon government formation framework, there will be no impediments or motions of no confidence against the PML-N-led coalition government throughout its entire tenure of five years.
Furthermore, it has been stipulated that the PPP will refrain from tabling a no-confidence motion against the PML-N administration after acquiring the presidency.
While the PML-N intends to forge a coalition government with its allies, it pledges to uphold the continuity of the prime minister’s term, with additional support pledged for the administration in Balochistan.
In parallel developments, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif conferred with his brother and party chief, Nawaz Sharif, to apprise him of discussions with various allied leaders. The duo deliberated over potential candidates to assume portfolios in the anticipated twenty-five-member federal cabinet.
Sources suggest that the allocation of three to five federal ministries to MQM leaders, potentially including Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal, Aminul Haq, and Khawaja Izhar, was deliberated upon.
Additionally, the names of fifteen senior PML-N figures were mooted for inclusion in the roster of federal ministers.
