Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwarts Asad Qaiser and Barrister Saif vehemently rejected accusations by Federal Ministers Khawaja Asif and Ataullah Tarar, alleging PTI’s involvement in a derogatory campaign against Pakistan Army’s martyrs.
The controversy arose when Information Minister Atta Tarar previously threatened action against PTI’s social media team, attributing disrespectful treatment of Pakistan Army soldiers to them following the recent sacrifices in North Waziristan.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, without naming individuals, hinted that those denigrating the martyrs were linked to terrorist elements opposing Pakistan’s armed forces on social media platforms.
In response, Qaiser denounced the ministers’ claims as misleading propaganda, expressing regret over attempts to implicate PTI in such activities. He emphasized PTI’s consistent honor of soldiers’ sacrifices and cautioned against politicizing martyrdom for personal gain.
Similarly, Barrister Saif criticized the opposition Pakistan Muslim League (N) for allegedly exploiting martyrs for political mileage and reiterated PTI’s patriotic stance during adversity.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Ata Tarar reiterated condemnation of the disparaging social media campaign, vowing to identify and prosecute perpetrators. He stressed national unity and the importance of respecting martyrs’ sacrifices, highlighting the intolerability of such behavior and advocating legal action.
Tarar also underscored vigilance against social media accounts operated from abroad, emphasizing the need to counter such elements.
