Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has expressed grave concerns regarding the alleged illegal marriage case involving PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. Addressing reporters outside Adiala Jail, he voiced apprehension about the potential sentencing of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and raised questions about the fairness of the court proceedings.
Barrister Khan asserted that the legal process appeared to be under undue pressure, with lawyers not being afforded fair opportunities to present their case. He emphasized the unprecedented nature of the trial, stating that such a legal procedure had no precedent in Pakistan’s history. Underlining the judiciary’s crucial role as the guardian of people’s rights and protections, he called for a thorough examination of the proceedings.
Additionally, the PTI leader expressed concerns about the potential impact of recent judgments on the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8. Barrister Khan warned that if the current trend in legal rulings persisted, it could cast doubt on the integrity of the electoral process. He stressed the importance of upholding principles of transparency and fairness within the judicial system to ensure the credibility of the elections.
In his remarks, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan urged a reevaluation of the entire situation, emphasizing the need for a fair and unbiased legal process that adheres to established norms.
