Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, has accepted the advice of the Supreme Court (SC) and is prepared to ‘conditionally’ engage in discussions with all political parties, including PML-N and PPP.
To proceed with this decision, the incarcerated former premier will draft a letter seeking guidance from the Supreme Court on the matter. The party leadership has been directed to prepare this letter, which will outline the current political and economic landscape of the country along with the challenges it confronts.
Additionally, the letter will advocate for fair trials for PTI leaders and workers who are either imprisoned or facing legal proceedings related to the May 9 violence and other incidents. The party’s legal committee is set to convene today to finalize the draft of the letter.
Insiders revealed that PTI is eager to engage in substantive and meaningful dialogues with ‘authorized representatives’ of political parties. This decision comes after the Supreme Court of Pakistan advised Imran Khan to initiate discussions with politicians during his court appearance addressing accountability laws.
Imran Khan addressed the court for approximately 35 minutes via a video link from the Adiala Central Jail during the hearing of the government’s intra-court appeal against the Supreme Court’s decision on amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO).
In his address, the former premier alleged that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was not under his control during PTI’s tenure. He emphasized the involvement of a designated ‘third umpire’ in the appointment of the NAB chairman when there is a dispute between the government and the opposition.
Responding to Imran Khan’s remarks, Justice Mandokhel urged him to engage in dialogue with fellow politicians to resolve issues, stating that politicians hold the responsibility for the country’s fate. This interaction underscores the importance of political leadership in addressing national challenges and fostering constructive dialogue to navigate complex issues.
