On Friday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) asserted its capability to establish a government at the national level and dismissed the possibility of forming alliances with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Barrister Gohar stated, “We are not in communication with PPP or PML-N.” He confidently claimed that the PTI is poised to secure 150 seats in the National Assembly, a sufficient number to independently form the central government.
Barrister Gohar emphasized, “We have no intention of entering into a coalition government with PPP and PML-N. We will take charge at the Centre and in Punjab.” He further highlighted the PTI’s leading position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressing the party’s readiness to govern there as well.
Reiterating their commitment, he stated, “PTI will maintain its presence in Parliament and actively fulfill its role.” Additionally, he addressed concerns about potential defection, assuring that independent candidates affiliated with PTI would adhere to party directives and resist any attempts at horse-trading.
These statements followed remarks from PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar, who claimed that successful independent candidates in the 2024 general elections were in contact with the party. Dar noted, “Independents have reached out to us, and within the next 72 hours, they will align with a political party in accordance with the Constitution.” He clarified that the PML-N wouldn’t compel anyone to join but asserted that candidates expressing willingness to join their party were making contact.
