Barrister Gohar Khan, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), made a significant announcement regarding the party’s plan to stage widespread protests across Pakistan on Saturday, vehemently opposing alleged electoral rigging. Following a meeting with Imran Khan outside a jail, Gohar conveyed that Imran Khan had instructed the party to adopt a robust stance against any perceived injustice until the complete electoral mandate was acknowledged.
In addressing the media, Gohar underscored the PTI’s openness to collaborate with any political entity acknowledging electoral irregularities, while also definitively ruling out the prospect of entering into a power-sharing arrangement with the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
Asserting the PTI’s confidence in securing 180 seats based on Form-45s meticulously collected by its polling agents, Gohar emphasized the party’s unwavering commitment to reclaiming every contested seat. Furthermore, he disclosed the PTI’s decision to orchestrate peaceful protests nationwide on Saturday, aiming to draw attention to and condemn the alleged electoral rigging.
Sher Afzal Marwat, addressing the media as well, conveyed Imran Khan’s characterization of the events in February not merely as the theft of the nation’s electoral mandate but as a perilous encroachment upon the nation’s independence itself. In a strategic move, the party plans to host a comprehensive briefing for the international media in Islamabad on Friday. During this session, Salman Akram Raja is slated to expound upon the intricate methods through which the elections are believed to have been manipulated, adding a layer of transparency and international scrutiny to the unfolding developments.
