Nadeem Khan takes charge as interim CEO while Hatem Bamatraf moves to PTML
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced a major leadership transition on Thursday following the successful completion of the amalgamation of Telenor Pakistan into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), which operates under the Ufone 5G brand.
The PTCL Board of Directors appointed Nadeem Khan as the company’s Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect for an interim period of 14 days. Previously serving as Group Chief Financial Officer of PTCL and Ufone, Khan will oversee the company’s operations during the leadership transition.
The appointment comes as PTCL enters a new phase after completing one of the country’s most significant telecommunications mergers, aimed at strengthening its market position and expanding future growth opportunities.
Experienced executive assumes interim leadership
Nadeem Khan is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of experience within the PTCL Group. He joined Ufone in 2003 as Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for a decade before serving on the Board of U Microfinance Bank Limited.
In 2017, he became Group Chief Financial Officer of PTCL and Ufone, where he led the group’s financial strategy during a period of major transformation, including the acquisition and integration of Telenor Pakistan. Khan also serves as a member of the Accounting Standards Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
Hatem Bamatraf shifts focus to PTML
Meanwhile, Hatem Bamatraf has stepped down as President and CEO of PTCL after leading the company and Ufone for the past five years. He will now serve as Chief Executive Officer of Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), strengthening leadership at the mobile business following the merger.
PTCL stated that the leadership changes are designed to ensure operational continuity across both PTCL and PTML as the two organizations move forward with their post-merger integration strategy.
The company said the transition reflects its commitment to maintaining stable leadership while accelerating innovation, improving customer services, and pursuing long-term growth in Pakistan’s rapidly evolving telecommunications sector following the successful consolidation of its mobile operations.
