The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Meta have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to promote online safety and digital well-being for Pakistani youth.
The agreement establishes a structured framework for cooperation between the national telecom regulator and the global technology company. Moreover, both organizations will work together on initiatives that strengthen online protection for children and young users.
Partnership Focuses on Online Safety
Under the agreement, PTA and Meta will collaborate on capacity building and policy development. They also plan to improve online content protection and address emerging digital safety challenges.
Furthermore, the partnership will enhance technical knowledge and specialized skills among relevant stakeholders. Both organizations will also hold policy discussions to align safety efforts with international best practices.
In addition, PTA and Meta will launch nationwide awareness campaigns. These initiatives will educate children, parents, and teachers about online privacy, safety tools, and responsible internet use.
PTA Highlights Youth Protection
PTA Chairman Hafeez-ur-Rehman stressed the importance of creating a safer digital environment for users across Pakistan.
He said the authority aims to build a secure and trustworthy online space. Additionally, he noted that the partnership would encourage responsible online behavior among children and young people.
He added that the collaboration would support further measures to strengthen digital safety across the country. Meanwhile, both organizations are expected to continue working on initiatives that promote safer digital experiences for Pakistani users.
