Hundreds Detained During PSG Victory Celebrations
French authorities confirmed that more than 400 people were detained nationwide following disturbances linked to the celebrations.
Among them, 283 individuals were arrested in Paris alone. Officials stated that investigations would determine how many detainees could face further legal action.
To maintain order, authorities deployed approximately 22,000 police officers across France. Around 8,000 officers were stationed in Paris, where the largest gatherings took place.

Multiple tram services were suspended, while several metro stations remained closed. In addition, bus routes in sensitive areas were temporarily halted to reduce congestion and prevent disturbances.
As celebrations intensified, approximately 20,000 supporters gathered along the famous Champs-Élysées avenue.
Meanwhile, businesses in the area boarded up storefronts before the final. Many shop owners wanted to avoid damage similar to incidents witnessed during previous celebrations.
Officials also seized nearly 100 fireworks and two dozen flares before they could be used during gatherings.
Despite these efforts, a bus shelter near the Champs-Élysées suffered significant damage during the unrest.
Clashes Break Out Near Stadium and City Streets
Tensions escalated in several parts of Paris as large crowds continued celebrating late into the night.
Authorities reported that a group of supporters entered the Paris ring road, temporarily disrupting traffic. Some participants also ignited flares during the gathering.
Near PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium, thousands of fans watched the final on giant screens. However, several thousand people remained outside the venue.
According to officials, projectiles were thrown at security personnel in some areas.
Authorities also reported attempts by around 150 individuals to enter the stadium through one of its gates. Police officers successfully prevented unauthorized access and restored order.
Additionally, some supporters attempted to construct makeshift barricades using rental bicycles. Security forces later removed these obstacles.
Property Damage and Injuries Reported
Officials confirmed that several incidents resulted in property damage.
A bakery and a restaurant near the stadium suffered damage during the disturbances. Elsewhere, six vehicles and two businesses were reportedly affected.
Authorities also stated that seven police officers sustained injuries while managing the unrest.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez strongly condemned the violence.
“Absolutely unacceptable”
He emphasized that celebrations should never result in attacks on public property or security personnel.
Political Reactions Follow Night of Unrest
The disturbances quickly sparked political debate in France.
Several political figures criticized the violence that accompanied the celebrations.
Marine Le Pen commented on social media, expressing concern over the scenes witnessed in Paris.
“Only in France does a football club’s victory spark riots”
She further added:
“Only in France does everyone feel compelled to lock themselves in their homes on the evening of a victory to avoid being confronted with violence”
Meanwhile, government officials defended the extensive security operation.
Authorities argued that the large police deployment helped prevent even greater disruption and ensured public safety.
Celebrations Continue Despite Disturbances
Despite the unrest, celebrations surrounding PSG’s historic achievement are expected to continue.
Authorities anticipate that approximately 100,000 supporters will gather near the Eiffel Tower for a victory parade.
The team is also scheduled to participate in official celebrations in Paris following its landmark European success.
Furthermore, President Emmanuel Macron is expected to receive the players in recognition of their achievement.
