The Pakistan Stock Brokers Association (PSBA) has a new chairman after members elected Dr Yasir Mahmood to lead the association.
Dr Mahmood, who serves as CEO of Yasir Mahmood Securities (Pvt.) Limited, will now head the association. His election marks a new phase for the organisation representing stock brokers.
Following his election, Dr Mahmood thanked PSBA members for their confidence and support. He also expressed his intention to work closely with the newly formed team.
“Truly grateful to everyone who placed their trust and confidence in me. I’m honoured to take on this responsibility and thankful for all the support and good wishes. Looking forward to working with the new team to serve PSBA with sincerity and commitment and contribute to the future of Pakistan’s capital markets,” he stated.
Dr Yasir Mahmood’s Capital Market Experience
Dr Mahmood brings extensive experience in Pakistan’s capital markets to his new position.
He has previously served as President and Chairman of the Lahore Stock Exchange. His career has also included leadership responsibilities at several major financial and public-sector institutions.
In addition, Dr Mahmood has served as Chairman of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).
He has also held board positions at several key organisations connected with Pakistan’s financial markets.
These include the Central Depository Company of Pakistan, Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (PACRA), and the National Clearing Corporation of Pakistan.
His experience across these institutions has given him exposure to different areas of Pakistan’s financial and capital market infrastructure.
Current Role at LUMS
Alongside his professional work, Dr Mahmood is involved in executive education.
He currently serves as an instructor at the Centre for Executive Education at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
At LUMS, he teaches investing in the stock market. Previously, he also served as a board member of the Institute of Financial Markets of Pakistan (IFMP).
His teaching role adds an academic and educational dimension to his experience in financial markets.
Dr Yasir Mahmood’s Educational Background
Dr Mahmood has an MBBS degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College. He also holds an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences.
His academic background combines medical education with business and financial studies.
Meanwhile, his professional career has focused extensively on capital markets, financial institutions, and corporate leadership.
As the new PSBA chairman, Dr Mahmood will work with the association’s new team. He has said he intends to serve the organisation with sincerity and commitment.
His leadership comes with experience spanning stock exchanges, financial market institutions, corporate boards, and investment education.
