Prince Harry unexpectedly reunited with a member of Princess Diana’s family during a surprise night out in the United Kingdom.
The Duke of Sussex attended a rugby match between Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby on Friday evening. The game took place at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium in Leicester.
During the outing, Harry met his cousin George McCorquodale.
George is the son of Sarah McCorquodale, the sister of the late Princess Diana. The reunion attracted attention because Harry has maintained close ties with the Spencer side of his family despite years of royal tensions.
Harry and George reportedly spent considerable time together while growing up and regularly met at family gatherings.
The bond between the Duke of Sussex and Princess Diana’s relatives has remained strong since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from senior royal duties in 2020.
Harry and Meghan also attended the wedding of George’s sister, Celia McCorquodale, in 2018. The event took place shortly after their own royal wedding.
Members of the Spencer family have continued supporting Harry at important public events.
In 2024, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Charles Spencer attended the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
George is reportedly the first family member Harry has publicly reunited with since returning to the UK in August.
The outing comes as Harry, Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, continue spending more time in Britain.
The surprise family reunion has once again highlighted Harry’s enduring connection with his mother’s side of the family.
His relationship with the Spencers has remained important throughout major changes in his royal and personal life.
