ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday for a one-day official visit, where he was warmly received at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Adviser.
Accompanying the Prime Minister are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.
The visit underscores the strong fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE, grounded in mutual trust, shared values, and broad-based cooperation, according to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold key meetings with the UAE leadership, including a bilateral session with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global matters, with a focus on economic collaboration, investment opportunities, and strengthening strategic partnerships.
The Foreign Office emphasized that the visit aims to deepen economic ties and explore new areas of cooperation, especially in sectors like mining, minerals, and agriculture, where the UAE has shown strong interest.
This visit follows President Sheikh Mohamed’s trip to Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan, earlier this year, where both leaders expressed a shared commitment to enhancing economic, political, and cultural relations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also extended gratitude to the UAE for its continued support, especially in times of crisis, including humanitarian and development assistance.
