ISLAMABAD: Asif Ali Zardari departed for a four-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic today at the invitation of Sadyr Zhaparov.
The visit, scheduled from July 6 to 9, marks the first official trip by a Pakistani president to Kyrgyzstan in 21 years. It also follows President Zhaparov’s visit to Pakistan in December 2025. The visit eflectis growing high-level engagement between the two countries.
Leaders to discuss bilateral cooperation
During the visit, President Zardari will hold one-on-one and delegation-level talks with President Zhaparov. The two leaders will review the full scope of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations and exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Moreover, discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, mining, agriculture, textiles, the halal industry, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, the digital economy, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Zardari is also scheduled to receive the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament during a courtesy meeting as part of his official engagements.
Visit aims to strengthen strategic ties
According to the Foreign Office, the visit underscores the steady progress in bilateral relations and highlights both countries’ commitment to enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors.
Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic maintain friendly relations based on shared history, cultural links, and common aspirations for peace, regional connectivity, and economic prosperity in Central and South Asia. Officials expect the visit to further strengthen diplomatic ties and create new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.
