Owens Sisters Return Nearly Three Decades After Original Film
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are returning to the world of witches, family curses and supernatural chaos in the highly anticipated sequel Practical Magic 2.
Nearly three decades after the original Practical Magic became a cult favourite, Bullock will reprise her role as Sally Owens, while Kidman returns as her sister Gillian Owens.
Warner Bros. has confirmed that Practical Magic 2 will arrive in North American cinemas on September 11, 2026. International releases will begin from September 9, 2026, although exact dates may differ by market.
The sequel will once again focus on the Owens family and the supernatural curse that has affected generations of women.
According to the official synopsis, Sally and Gillian must confront a dark curse threatening to tear their family apart once and for all.
The original Practical Magic was released in 1998 and was based on Alice Hoffmanโs 1995 novel.
Although its initial theatrical performance was modest, the movie developed a passionate following over the years and became particularly popular for its mix of fantasy, romance, family drama and dark comedy.
Bullock and Kidmanโs performances as the Owens sisters became central to the filmโs lasting popularity.

Sequel Draws Inspiration From Alice Hoffmanโs The Book of Magic
The new movie is based on Alice Hoffmanโs 2021 novel The Book of Magic, the final instalment in her series about the Owens family.
Hoffmanโs official website also confirms that Practical Magic 2 is based on The Book of Magic.
The story expands the supernatural mythology surrounding the Owens family and explores their continuing struggle against a centuries-old curse.
Warner Bros. describes the sequel as returning to a world filled with ancestral magic, family bonds and supernatural danger.
The central conflict will once again revolve around the Owens women attempting to protect their family while confronting the consequences of their magical inheritance.
The sequel arrives at a time when nostalgia for the original film remains strong.
For longtime fans, the biggest attraction will be seeing Bullock and Kidman together again as Sally and Gillian.
At the same time, characters played by Joey King and Maisie Williams will introduce younger members of the Owens family and potentially expand the franchise for a new generation.
With the theatrical release now approaching, Practical Magic 2 is set to bring the Owens sisters back to cinemas in September, nearly 28 years after audiences first entered their magical world.
