Russia claims it ‘destroyed’ a Kyiv military facility

It was announced by Russia last month that it was refocusing its efforts on regaining control of the eastern Donbas area by withdrawing soldiers from northern Ukraine, particularly near the capital.

MOSCOW: As Moscow ramps up its strikes on Kyiv, the Russian Defence Ministry announced Sunday that it has targeted a military facility outside of the Ukrainian capital.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence stated in a statement on Telegram that “high-precision, air-launched missiles damaged an ammunitions facility near the community of Brovary, Kyiv area,” during the night.

Heavily damaged infrastructure was reported in Brovary in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the city’s mayor, Igor Sapozhkov.

In Brovary, an AFP correspondent saw no evidence of damage, smoke or fire.

Russia has recently carried out several assaults on military facilities in and around the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

It was announced by Russia last month that it was refocusing its efforts on regaining control of the eastern Donbas area by withdrawing soldiers from northern Ukraine, particularly near the capital.
