Red Zone is blocked ahead of PTI protests against ECP

It has been announced that a protest against Pakistan’s Election Commission will take place today, and the district administration of Islamabad has taken action by securing the red zone and putting containers at the entrances to the city.

The chairman of the PTI, Imran Khan, planned a protest on Monday and asked his supporters to congregate outside the offices of the ECP in Islamabad on Thursday to seek the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Protesters and the careless alike are reportedly barred from entering the red zone. The anti-riot force, Rangers, the Football Club, and the police will all be deployed in and around the red zone.

It has been declared that a demonstration against Pakistan’s Election Commission will take place today, and the district administration of Islamabad has taken action by securing the red zone and putting containers at the entrances of the federal capital.

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), planned a demonstration on Monday, calling on his supporters to congregate outside the ECP headquarters in Islamabad on Thursday to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Protesters and those who aren’t concerned about the situation are reportedly barred from entering the red zone. More than a dozen law enforcement organizations will be stationed in a perimeter surrounding the red zone.

Pakistan’s interior minister warned PTI on Wednesday that anybody who tries to enter the “red zone” would face “severe action,” along with Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

When asked about Khan and Fawad Chaudhry’s plans to create havoc outside the election commission, the interior minister revealed that the coalition government had “received reports” and had discovered statements they had made about doing so in the name of protest.

“They should keep in mind that Islamabad High Court limits on conducting rallies in Red Zone,” he said. “They might target the election commission.”
