Rauf Atta of the Asma Jahangir Group (AJG) has won the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) presidential election by a narrow margin, securing 350 votes against Munir Kakar from the Hamid Khan Group (HKG), who received 331 votes.
Out of 769 registered voters, 682 lawyers participated in the voting, indicating a strong turnout. Atta also excelled in Lahore with 558 votes, surpassing Kakar’s 484. In Multan, Atta received 125 votes compared to Kakar’s 85.
In Islamabad, Atta led with 190 votes to Kakar’s 160. His support extended into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he won by tight margins in several cities: Peshawar (127 to 123), Bannu (21 to 10), and Dera Ismail Khan (25 to 11).
Atta also achieved wins in other key areas, including a 7-vote margin in Abbottabad, 11 in Bannu, 14 in Dera Ismail Khan, 8 in Swat, and 4 in Peshawar. In Hyderabad, he received 50 votes, outpacing Kakar’s 34.
