Rana Sanaullah says Nawaz Sharif neither desires a deal nor interested in dialogues

Rana Sanaullah said that Nawaz Sharif does not want to participate in any negotiations or discussions.

LAHORE: PML(N) Punjab President Rana Sanaullah said that neither Nawaz Sharif desired a deal nor he was interested in any such dialogues.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Rana Sanaullah “seconded” the DG ISPR’s denial of rumours about negotiations with Nawaz Sharif and made it plain that the party’s self-exiled leader was not interested in being a part of any such conversation.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the former National Assembly speaker, announced last month that he was travelling to London to bring back Sharif, who fled the nation in 2019 on medical concerns but never returned. Ministers from the federal government and even the prime minister discussed this particular issue.

A day earlier, ISPR Director General Maj. Gen. Babar Iftikhar addressed rumours that the military establishment was conducting talks with Sharif, saying that all of this was unsubstantiated and baseless conjecture. The army spokesperson’s words were brought up during today’s news briefing in Lahore, when Sanaullah was asked for his thoughts. According to DG ISPR, “I agree with his remark, and I hope to Allah that this thing, if [it] is] real, continues this way,” he stated. “In no way are we a part of any discussion about a contract with any institution or the establishment.”

Sanaullah added that Sharif does not want to participate in any negotiations or discussions. At several times, he (Sharif) has urged us to work for free and fair elections and to create our political narrative on the necessity of keeping institutions within their confines. He has never requested anybody to be involved in such matters. ”

As per Sharif’s most recent directions for party leaders, he (Sharif) requested that they either not meet with high-ranking establishment officials or do so only after telling the party. Aside from a chance encounter, no one is authorised to conduct these kinds of gatherings. As per Sanaullah, “They also do not occur.”

According to Sanaullah, the party has asked Sharif to receive full medical care first before travelling back. He also said that it is crucial for the party’s founder to bear in mind that he will not be awarded justice and that “people are aware that he has been handled unfairly in numerous false instances,” stated the PML-N leader.

Furthermore, Sanaullah dismissed the rumours of secret meetings between Shehbaz Sharif and other politicians in Rawalpindi, as well. “He is not a part of any arrangement or plot, and he will not be,” said the party head.

Addressing the leaked conversations, he said that “only government entities are capable of recording private talks.” In the newest tape leak, which supposedly included PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz and Pervez Rashid, Sanaullah replied that listening in on private talks was both immoral and illegal, according to the minister.

He was adamant that only government institutions were capable of recording phone calls, stating that “most probably it may be the Intelligence Bureau (IB).”

He asserted that the government obtained the leaked audiotape with the intention of benefiting from it during the next local government elections and that this endeavour would be futile.
