LAHORE: There should be no political pressure on government officials, according to the governor of Punjab, Omer Sarfraz Cheema.
Officials should know the difference between legitimate and illegal directives, the governor said to Deputy Commissioner Lahore Umar Sher Chatha, who visited the Governor House on Tuesday. During the meeting, they discussed administrative issues.
He added that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had remarked that civil officials should rise above their political or other affiliations and serve the people honestly in their capacity as public workers.
Speaking to PTI Youth Wing office bearers from various districts, governor Omer Sarfraz Cheema emphasised that PTI’s strength is its youth.
When Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was founded, he claimed that middle-class people couldn’t even consider entering politics. He argued that Imran Khan should have the backing of serious and patriotic young people. His statement stated that the Pakistani People’s Party (PTI) has always sought to uphold the rule of law.
Omer Sarfraz Cheema said that Pakistan’s two biggest parties, the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-N, had deceived the public in the past as well. Because of these two parties, the PTI was created; he claimed.
