ISLAMABAD: During a crucial Peshawar High Court session addressing a pivotal PTI petition, young PTI leader Mashaal Yousafzai, known for her prior interruption of the chief justice of Pakistan, unexpectedly burst into laughter within the courtroom.
The PHC convened to review the PTI’s petition challenging the ECP’s annulment of its intraparty election and the withdrawal of its bat electoral symbol.
A heated exchange between Additional Attorney General Sanaullah and PTI lawyers ensued while addressing the bench. Amidst this, Mashaal Yousafzai’s audible giggling disrupted the proceedings.
The attorney general, attempting to dissuade the bench from granting interim relief to the PTI, which sought the reinstatement of its bat symbol and the right to contest elections, faced interruption due to Yousafzai’s laughter.
Expressing displeasure, the additional attorney general protested and urged Justice Kamran Hayat to intervene, demanding that Yousafzai be reprimanded for her behavior.
Asserting his stance, the attorney general remarked, “Am I here for amusement that she finds this funny?”
Justice Kamran Hayat directed Mashaal Yousafzai to relocate to a corner within the courtroom.
This incident follows a previous encounter earlier this month when Mashaal Yousafzai incurred the ire of CJP Faez Isa by interrupting him while he was finalizing a decision after a hearing.
