PTI to observe ‘Thanksgiving and salvation day’ as PDM’s tenure ends

In anticipation of the dissolution of the National Assembly, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared August 10 as “Thanksgiving and Salvation Day.” The decision was made by the PTI core committee to commemorate the end of the 16-month tenure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government.

The committee plans to provide a comprehensive analysis of the “devastation” caused by the PDM-led government. This analysis will include information about media censorship, repression against journalists, rising inflation, economic challenges, and other issues.

The party expressed concern over the court hearing regarding an appeal against the sentence given to the deposed prime minister, who was removed from office via a vote of no confidence in April of the previous year. The PTI core committee also called for authorities to take serious notice of threats to Imran Khan’s life. The PTI also condemned the reported harassment of Khan’s counsel. It also criticized the conditions in which Khan is being held in Attock Jail.

As the political landscape in Pakistan undergoes significant changes, the PTI is using this opportunity to present its perspective and critique the previous government’s actions during its term.

Islamabad High Court Declines The Suspension Of Imran Khan’s Prison Sentence

A division bench at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the petitions seeking the suspension of Imran Khan’s prison sentence. The two-member bench was comprised of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri.

Imran Khan’s legal representatives requested a suspension of the jail sentence. However, the court declined to immediately terminate the term and issued notices to all concerned parties for a subsequent hearing.

The former Prime Minister had been found guilty of ‘corrupt practices’ in the Toshakhana case by an Islamabad sessions court. Imran Khan was apprehended shortly after from his residence in Lahore. Having been sentenced to three years in jail, Imran Khan is currently confined in Attock Jail.
