PTI Founder Endorses Negotiation at All Levels: Salman Akram Raja

PTI Founder

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has stated that the party founder, Imran Khan, has given clear instructions for engaging in negotiations at all levels, emphasizing the importance of constitutional supremacy and the rule of law.

Speaking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Raja confirmed that the PTI leadership is committed to holding talks at every suitable forum in line with these directives from Imran Khan. This marks a significant step in PTI’s strategy of seeking dialogue and resolution amid ongoing tensions.

Raja’s statement comes at a time when PTI is facing legal challenges. On the same day, the Peshawar High Court granted him a one-month protective bail, protecting him from arrest by the authorities.

The bail order, issued by a bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Waqar Ahmed, prevents the police from taking any action against Raja.

During the proceedings, Raja informed the court that he had already secured bail in eight different cases. However, he expressed uncertainty regarding the status of other cases that may have been filed against him.

Justice Sahibzada Asadullah raised concerns regarding the necessity of protective bail, but Raja emphasized that it was essential given the ongoing legal challenges.

The court acknowledged Raja’s concerns and ordered that he not be arrested in any of the registered cases while the protective bail remains in effect.

It is important to note that following PTI’s protest in Islamabad last month, several party leaders, including Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and former President Dr. Arif Alvi, have been named in multiple FIRs under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.

One such case was filed at the Taxila police station in Rawalpindi, which lists the PTI leadership, including Shehryar Riaz, Hammad Azhar, and Asad Qaiser, among the accused.

The charges in this case include robbery, attempted murder, and various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, with the leadership accused of inciting violence and damaging public property during the protests.

Another FIR has been filed against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Aleema Khan, and Ali Amin Gandapur at the Dhamyal police station in Rawalpindi. This case includes charges of terrorism and other serious offenses under the Pakistan Penal Code.

Over 200 individuals, including several prominent PTI leaders such as Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, and Hammad Azhar, have been named in the case.

The ongoing legal battles and the focus on negotiations highlight the party’s attempt to navigate the complex political and legal landscape in the aftermath of the protests and the subsequent crackdown on its leadership.
