ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has launched a scathing critique against Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, following his reported remarks hinting at potential cross-border anti-terror operations into Afghanistan. Former NA Speaker Asad Qaiser and other senior opposition figures condemned the rhetoric, warning that such actions could strain Pakistan’s relationships with Afghanistan and destabilize regional peace.
The opposition’s concerns were articulated against the backdrop of Asif’s interview with a US media outlet, where he ruled out negotiations with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and underscored Pakistan’s resolve to enhance border security against terrorism and illegal activities.
