ISLAMABAD: On Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day celebration, President Arif Alvi delivered a speech calling upon the nation’s politicians and stakeholders to adopt a path of forgiveness, drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Following the hoisting of the national flag at the Convention Center in Islamabad, President Alvi emphasized the significance of following Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s message of “Unity, Faith and Discipline” in current times.
He stressed that Pakistan’s advancement and growth were dependent on unity, justice, and meritocracy. President Alvi highlighted that unity is the bedrock of a nation and urged for timely efforts toward necessary changes. He expressed confidence that Pakistan could achieve developed status within a few years.
Deviation from Islamic principles and core values, he cautioned, would worsen the situation. He emphasized breaking free from nepotism, promoting meritocracy, and ensuring comprehensive justice.
Education was labeled a paramount need to alleviate poverty. President Alvi expressed regret over 27 million children being out of school. He called upon the affluent class to contribute to their education.
Healthcare was identified as another crucial factor in addressing poverty. The president stressed the necessity of increased participation of women in economic activities. He mentioned their significant role in achieving higher growth rates and urged for ensuring their safety.
President Alvi paid tribute to the sacrifices made by those who struggled for the creation and sovereignty of Pakistan. He acknowledged Quaid-e-Azam’s remarkable leadership. He also praised Pakistan’s armed forces and citizens for their ongoing sacrifices, particularly in the war on terrorism.
President Alvi Addresses Islamophobia and Reaffirms Kashmir Support
Addressing Islamophobia incidents in Western countries, he asserted Islam’s message of peace and the deep reverence Muslims hold for their Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and the Holy Quran.
Regarding the situation in the Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), President Alvi reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people. He urged the international community to address the dispute in line with the UN Security Council Resolutions.
He expressed gratitude to friendly nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, China, Iran, and Turkey, for their support during challenging times.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.
