PPP leader Khursheed Shah says Nawaz Sharif may not return to Pakistan soon

Contrary to former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent claim, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah has expressed doubts about the return of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to the country in October. Khursheed Shah cited Nawaz Sharif’s health-related issues as the reason for his skepticism.

After a meeting with Nawaz in London, Shehbaz Sharif announced that Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan in October 2023 to lead the election campaign. However, Khursheed Shah stated that Nawaz’s health condition might prevent him from returning soon. The PPP leader further said, “Nawaz Sharif’s health can deteriorate in the last moments.”

Nawaz Sharif traveled to London in November 2019 for medical treatment after being convicted in corruption cases. He has been residing in London since then.

Earlier, reports indicated that Nawaz Sharif was expected to return to Pakistan in September this year. The decision to delay his return was reportedly influenced by advice from party loyalists. They suggested that the severe weather in September might not be suitable for large-scale political gatherings. Therefore, mid-October was considered a better time for his return.

Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan has faced various speculations and changes in plans, with health concerns and political considerations being key factors.
