Leaders and supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are gathering in Lahore from various parts of Pakistan for a significant political event to welcome their leader, Nawaz Sharif, on October 21.
The PML-N has arranged multiple special train services to ensure that its followers can participate in the grand rally at Minar-e-Pakistan.
Specifically, two trains have departed from Balochistan, one from Naseerabad, and another from Quetta. Additionally, a substantial number of PML-N workers, under the guidance of the party’s provincial leadership, left Karachi’s City Railway Station.
These special trains have been adorned with images of party leaders and flags.
PML-N Karachi President Salman Khan mentioned that while 5,500 workers sought tickets, they could only accommodate 3,000, with the remaining individuals being transported to Lahore by bus.
Former governor Mohammad Zubair, speaking at the station, acknowledged the increasing enthusiasm and the unprecedented turnout of people from Sindh for a political rally. He stated that Nawaz Sharif would address people’s welfare in his speech and that the PML-N is formulating a people-centric agenda.
However, the situation took an embarrassing turn for the PML-N as some workers initially protested due to a lack of space on the train. They urged the party leaders to consider their desire to go to Lahore, but eventually, they were provided with seats.
Meanwhile, another special train, led by PML-N Sindh President Shah Muhammad Shah, is set to depart from Hyderabad at 3 p.m. on the same day.
Additionally, a convoy from Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad is en route to Lahore, led by Dr. Mustafa Bashir. Bashir claimed that over 10,000 Kashmiris would be present at Minar-e-Pakistan for the grand rally.
In a separate development, all legal obstacles to Nawaz Sharif’s smooth return were cleared. He was granted protective bail in two corruption cases, and an arrest warrant related to the Toshakhana case was suspended by an accountability court. The Islamabad High Court approved his bail petitions in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield references, allowing him bail until October 24.
Nawaz Sharif has also reached Dubai, where he will meet with party leaders and engage in a busy schedule in the Gulf state. He recently held a meeting with a prominent figure from the UAE.
