PM Shehbaz rejects Ishaq Dar
ISLAMABAD: PM Shehbaz Sharif rejects the appointment of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar as the caretaker prime minister. He asserted that they would select a neutral person to lead the interim set-up.
It will ensure transparency in the upcoming general elections. The premier stated this on a TV program on Sunday. Premier’s remarks came in response to rumors suggesting Dar’s appointment as the interim prime minister.
Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of appointing a non-partisan politician to this position. He said that this is essential to avoid any doubts about the election results.
He aligned with his coalition partners’ stance, who also supported the idea of a neutral individual leading the caretaker set-up.
Moreover, Shehbaz Sharif said that the government will consult all the key stakeholders to appoint an interim Prime Minister and ministers.
PM Shehbaz assured that an efficient interim government would be formed at the Centre. Recently, the parliament passed a bill empowering the caretaker set-up to make policy decisions.
Nawaz Sharif to face court cases
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Nawaz Sharif will face court cases when he returns to Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif is expected to return to Pakistan in the next few weeks.
PM Shehbaz accused PTI Chairman Imran Khan of being the “mastermind” behind the May 9 riots. The riots were aimed at toppling the military leadership and initiating a civil war.

The government and the military responded to the violent protests by taking strong action. They arrested and detained several PTI workers and leaders for their alleged involvement. In response to the attacks on military installations, the Pakistan Army dismissed three senior officers, including a lieutenant general. Pakistan army also took strict departmental action against 15 other army officers.
