PM says the PTI government used borrowed money to fund military

ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s prime minister, stated on Monday that the country’s economic position had worsened to such a degree during the previous PTI administration that loans covered even defence spending.

Pakistan’s prime minister said during the inauguration of a mass transit bus project from Peshawar Mor to Islamabad International Airport that “before the PTI government, many other expenditures have been born through debts money, but in the last regime most of the defence expenditures were met through loans.”

There is an unsettling scenario where the nation cannot afford undue delays in development initiatives carried out via loans, he noted.. “

After four years of stagnation under the PTI, he remarked, Pakistan’s path of growth has restarted.

According to Mr Sharif, the Chinese leadership has consistently backed Pakistan in all international forums and referred to China as a great ally.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also applauded Turkey, for it has backed Pakistan from its inception. A visionary leader, he added, was Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who supported Pakistan in times of adversity.

The Saudi ambassador met with the prime minister

After meeting with Prime Minister Sharif, Saudi Arabian Ambassador Nawaf Saeed Al Malkiy extended congratulations on the prince’s election and emphasised the kingdom’s willingness to further develop bilateral ties between the two countries.

Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have committed to work together to improve Pakistan-Saudi ties, the PM stated in an interview. Mr Sharif requested that King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and the crown prince receive his hearty wishes.

Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia have made significant contributions to both nations’ advancement and development, according to Prime Minister Khan. It was a heartfelt thank you from him to the Saudi leadership and administration.

Doha’s ruling family’s emir

Sharif got a phone call from Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, who congratulated him on becoming prime minister and promised him Qatar’s complete support in strengthening Pakistan-Qatar ties.

As part of his speech, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding economic ties with Qatar in several crucial areas, including commerce and investment, energy and communication, and food security.

Sharif was also presented with a message of congratulations from the government of Qatar on his election as prime minister by Ambassador of Qatar Sheikh Saoud Abdulrahman Al-Thani.
