ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) passed the Official Secrets Amendment Bill 2023 to enhance the effectiveness of the Official Secrets Act 1923. The bill aims to ensure the security of official documents in the changing social context. Besides this, the NA passed Toshakhana Management and Regulation Bill and several other important bills today. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbassi presented both bills in the House.
The Toshakhana Management and Regulation Bill 2023 was also passed today. It dictates that gifts received by the state repository will be sold through open auctions. The proceeds will be used to promote female primary education in underprivileged regions.
Furthermore, the House passed several other bills, including the Pakistan Airports Authority Bill 2023, The Promotion and Protection of Gandhara Culture Authority Bill 2023, The Margalla International University Bill 2023, and The Thar International Institute Bill 2023.
The NA passed a resolution urging the government to ensure minimum wage payments to employees in public and private institutions. This resolution highlights the importance of fair labor practices and employee welfare in the country. It passed another resolution recommending renaming Gwadar International Airport as Feroz Khan Noon to honor the former prime minister.
The House has adjourned and is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11 am.
