Pakistan’s Islamabad High Court (IHC) is deliberating on a miscellaneous appeal against the seizure of Monal restaurant in the city. The IHC has yet to rule on the matter of Monal’s presence in Margalla Hills.
Justice Amir Farooq said at an IHC hearing on an inter-court appeal that many things would come to light when the single bench issues its comprehensive ruling, adding that “after the goods are picked, the restaurant will be sealed,” in reference to the decision to close the famed restaurant.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) does not know what to do with the restaurant, according to Justice Farooq, and the restaurant’s lawyer is concerned that the CDA would transfer it over to someone else, according to the judge.
There will be no commercial activity on the property where the restaurant has been erected, he said.
“The seizure will take place in the presence of a magistrate,” Justice Farooq remarked in response to the restaurant’s lawyer’s worry of a law and order crisis being generated during the seizure of Monal.
At the hearing, the attorney insisted on keeping the building as it is. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb stated, “you can get the facility to get the goods out, however, an appropriate written order will be issued”
