Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that Russia has not provided Pakistan with the opportunity to acquire its oil, and that owing to sanctions, it is very difficult for Pakistan to purchase oil from the nation.
During an interview with CNN’s Becky Anderson, Pakistan’s Finance Minister, stated the PTI-led government submitted a letter to Russia requesting that the Russian government sell its oil to Pakistan, but the Russian authorities have not answered to the letter.
He stated that if Russian oil is offered at a lower price and there are no sanctions on Pakistan, Islamabad may consider purchasing it.
There is no way for Pakistani banks to get letters of credit or arrange for the purchase of Russian oil, and the Russian Federation has not offered to sell any oil to us.
Pakistan has requested Ukraine and Russia to offer it wheat at a lower price, and “we would be pleased to purchase wheat from whichever nation is willing to sell,” said the Pakistani official.
He blamed the Imran Khan-led administration for ruining Pakistan’s economy by claiming that the inflation rate reached a record high during his time in office.
After eliminating energy subsidies, Ismail claimed he was confident in negotiating with the International Monitory Fund.
