Shahbaz Sharif and other key officials of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) arrived in London on Wednesday to meet with party supremo Nawaz Sharif, according to reports.
Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Khawaja Asif, and Khurram Dastagir are said to be accompanying the PM, according to the aforementioned sources of information.
Sharif, Dar, and Abbasi stated that the London huddle will focus on Pakistan’s economic woes and the need to come up with a solution to the problem.
Nawaz told the reporters that he was looking forward to meeting Shahbaz and the others during his press conference. To that end, he added, the summit will address Pakistan’s present economic predicament, as well as how to move forward.
He added he was glad that Imran Khan’s PTI administration had been toppled in a vote of no-confidence because it was a relief.
‘The PTI administration has created a crisis in every field of the country,’ Nawaz said. Whether it was social, economic, cultural, or political difficulties, Imran Khan’s regime destroyed Pakistan in every imaginable way. It’s the first time this has happened in Pakistan’s history.
Nawaz: “The PTI’s chapter will be closed in the next election.”
“Imran Khan has produced an unparalleled chaos in the country, and the amount of wreckage he has left behind has never been witnessed before,” Nawaz stated when questioned about former prime minister Imran Khan’s allusions to Mir Jafar and treason. “I’m relieved that he’s gone and his harmful habits have been put on hold.”
Ishaq Dar, on the other hand, emphasised the relevance of the London summit considering the country’s economic situation.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has previously said that polls before October are not conceivable, therefore, Dar ruled out early elections.
PM Shahbaz and other party leaders had asked Nawaz Sharif to convene a consultative meeting, according to former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Nawaz has to discuss the party’s leadership on several crucial topics, and the PML-N is expected to make a “major decision,” according to insiders, therefore he rejected a plan to have an online meeting.
According to party insiders, Nawaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar would discuss the plan for lowering the price of petroleum products at the meeting.
IMF officials are slated to begin discussions with Pakistani officials in Doha on May 18. This meeting is of particular importance.
The gathering will also decide on power-sharing, the next general election, and the composition of the Punjab government.
