Karachi University Bomb Killed 5, Several Injured

According to reports, multiple persons were hurt because of the explosion that took place near the Confucius Institute.

KARACHI: At least five people have died and dozens have been injured in an explosion that took place at the University of Karachi on Tuesday.

According to reports, multiple persons were hurt because of the explosion that took place near the Confucius Institute.

Three Chinese nationals are among the five killed in the explosion.

As per information, a loud boom was heard, after which fire spread in the vehicle. The source and the extent of the blast are yet to be confirmed. The vehicle apparently entered via the Maskan gate, which also acts as an entry for the Confucius Institute, located near the Institute of Business Administration’s main campus on KU property.

Police, Rangers and other necessary authorities, including the bomb disposal unit, have arrived at the scene of the incident.

The Confucius Institute organises activities for educational and cultural advancement, which are sponsored and coordinated by the Chinese International Education Foundation and formerly by Hanban, an agency linked with the Chinese government
