ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister and a senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar reached Islamabad Monday night along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif amid top-level protocol.
Dar returned from London after five years’ self-exile in special plane of PM Shehbaz Sharif which landed at Noor Khan Air-base in Rawalpindi.
On Tuesday morning, Ishaq Dar will appear in an accountability court to get bail in assets beyond means case. Then Dar is expected to take oath as Senator and Finance Minister as well.
Finance Minister Miftah Ismail had already tendered his resignation and PM Shehbaz is expected to accept that and handover the charge of the finance ministry to Ishaq Dar.
The decision to appoint Ishaq Dar as Finance Minister was taken in London meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.
On Saturday Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed that Dar is returning to Pakistan and that he will appear in the court.
On Friday, an accountability court in Islamabad suspended arrest warrants for former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar until October 7. The court said it would revoke the orders once the accused appeared in the court.
If Dar gets bail after appearing in the court tomorrow, he would take oath as Senator and Finance Minister.
