Imran Khan
Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, has asserted that he possesses a “last card” that he will deploy at a strategically appropriate moment. This revelation comes amidst his imprisonment and reports of his prolonged isolation.
On Tuesday, Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, shared details of a recent family visit to Adiala Jail, where Khan is being held.
According to Aleema, Khan appeared visibly shaken by the updates regarding events that unfolded during his detention, as he was kept largely incommunicado following his arrest on November 24.
Aleema Khan revealed that for the first 40 to 50 hours of his detention, Khan was denied access to newspapers, television, and other means of communication.
It wasn’t until Monday, when he met with his legal team and journalists, that he was informed about the situation outside. Shocked by the information, Khan repeatedly questioned, “What are you saying?”
In response to the post-arrest violence and casualties, Khan reportedly urged his family to visit hospitals and check on the injured or deceased.
However, Aleema explained that such actions could result in further arrests, deterring the family from fulfilling his request.
During their conversation, Khan insisted that the initial First Information Report (FIR) should be filed against Mohsin Naqvi and Shehbaz Sharif.
He also invoked the memory of Akbar Bugti, a Baloch nationalist leader whose killing sparked unrest in Balochistan. Drawing a parallel, Khan warned, “What you did with Akbar Bugti, do you think eliminating a person brings peace? Balochistan has not forgotten that.”
The most intriguing aspect of Aleema’s account was Khan’s claim of a “last card.” While he refrained from disclosing any details, he expressed confidence in its impact, stating, “I have a last card that I won’t tell anyone about, and it won’t be revealed. But I have it, and it won’t be used right now. For now, as the system dictates, we will go to the courts.”
The specifics of this “last card” remain a mystery, leaving political observers speculating about Khan’s next move amidst a deeply polarized political landscape.
