Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and Other PTI Leaders Booked in “Triple Murder” Case Over Rangers Deaths

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), his wife Bushra Bibi, and several senior party leaders have been named in a “triple murder” case following the deaths of three Rangers personnel during last month’s PTI protest in Islamabad.

A first information report (FIR) was filed at the Ramna Police Station in Islamabad, alleging that the incident was part of a “plan orchestrated at Adiala Jail,” where Imran Khan has been detained for over a year. The FIR claims that the deaths of the paramilitary personnel occurred “at the behest of the PTI founder,” and that some jail inmates and undercover police employees are witnesses to the plan.

The FIR also includes PTI leaders such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Salman Akram Raja, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Raoof Hasan, Hammad Azhar, and others.

The report further accuses Bushra Bibi and the other named individuals of inciting rebellion against the armed forces and government through a video message, which allegedly led to the tragic incident.

According to the FIR, an unidentified individual drove a vehicle into three Rangers personnel who were providing security during the PTI protest, leading to their deaths. The PTI leadership has been charged with murder, terrorism, and violations of 10 sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The protest, organized by PTI to demand the release of Imran Khan, ended in a chaotic retreat after a midnight crackdown by the government. The PTI has claimed that at least 12 of its workers were killed and 1,000 arrested, while the government maintains that four law enforcement officers, including the three Rangers personnel and one policeman, lost their lives during the clashes.

This latest development comes after a series of accusations between the PTI and the coalition government over the violent confrontation during the protest, with both sides blaming each other for the unrest.
