On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton mentioned the reason why the former President Donald Trump might be acquitted in his impeachment trial for inciting the Capitol insurrection. She said that his co-conspirators are still members of the Senate jury.
“If Senate Republicans fail to convict Donald Trump, it won’t be because the facts were with him or his lawyers mounted a competent defense. It will be because the jury includes his co-conspirators.”
Tweeted Clinton.
Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) are among those Senate Republicans who helped Trump fuel anger in the weeks that eventually caused the US Capitol riots. They further promoted the lie manufactured by the ex-president that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Hillary Clinton’s tweet came on the second day of Trump’s trial, during which Democrats shared the newly discovered security footage of police directing Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) away from the violent mob, and rioters smashing windows and searching for Vice President Mike Pence.
