ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab’s Acting President Hammad Azhar resigned from his party post, following allegations made by PTI leader Azam Swati.
Azhar announced his decision to step down from all party positions, citing concerns raised within the party. In his resignation statement, he revealed that Swati had informed PTI founder Imran Khan that Aliya Hamza was facing obstruction in her work.
“When the PTI founder inquired about who was causing the hindrance, Swati named me,” Hammad Azhar stated.
However, Azhar said he personally asked Aliya Hamza whether she had ever faced any obstacles from him, and she expressed surprise at the claim.
Final Resignation After Multiple Attempts
Azhar clarified that his administrative powers had already been transferred to four regional presidents in June 2023, making the issue unnecessary.
“The organisation of my constituency was carried out without my advice or consent,” he added.
He further disclosed that he had twice previously submitted his resignation, but both times it was rejected. However, this time, his decision was final.
“As a worker, I will continue to serve my leader in the future,” Azhar maintained, emphasizing that he would no longer seek any party position.
