Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur downplayed the recent National Security Committee meeting, calling it “merely a presentation” that offered little new information.
He claimed he was already aware of the details discussed and emphasized concerns over a “stolen mandate.”
During the meeting, Gandapur questioned Maulana Fazlur Rehman about his contradictory statements regarding Imran Khan’s ouster but received no response. He stressed that political stability remains unattainable as long as Imran Khan remains imprisoned and proposed a follow-up meeting after Eid to define responsibilities and resource allocation.
On counterterrorism, he highlighted the importance of public trust, criticizing past operations for harming civilians and failing to fulfill promises. He also pointed to Pakistan’s strained border security, questioning the effectiveness of billions spent on fencing, which he claimed has been breached in multiple places, enabling smuggling and terrorist infiltration.
Regarding Afghanistan, Gandapur maintained that regional peace is impossible without strong bilateral relations, urging a strategic shift toward securing borders rather than large-scale military operations.
