ECP Releases Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant for Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, in a case related to contempt of the electoral body.

Asking the Islamabad police chief to arrest and present him in court on Tuesday for a contempt case.

Interestingly, just hours before the arrest warrant was issued, Imran Khan received temporary relief from the Supreme Court, which restrained the police from arresting him until August 9 in another case involving the murder of senior lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar in Quetta.

Court issues non-bailable arrest warrant for Imran Khan

Judicial magistrate Malik Aman announced the verdict, rejecting the request for relief from Imran’s counsel and ordering his presence in court on April 18.

Last Year, A Case registered against the former prime minister registered last year for his remarks at a rally in F9 Park.

In his remarks, he warned Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police high-ups of dire consequences for what he called their “biased” attitude towards his party.

Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi argued that Imran should appear before the court for the next hearing, and the judge maintained the warrant’s date of March 29, despite Imran’s lawyer’s request for a change to March 30.
