Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday warned of potential “unrest” in the country following an attack on a friendly nation.
While addressing the public in Taunsa, CM Maryam expressed her surprise at a recent video she had seen, where a housewife launched a verbal attack on a friendly nation. “It is shocking to see such an incident unfold,” she said.
The Chief Minister criticized her political opponents, stating, “Their agenda seems extremely dangerous. I don’t understand why they always start protesting when Pakistan is on the brink of prosperity.”
She also took a swipe at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, claiming, “Punjab is being targeted repeatedly from KP. They are looking to target Punjab once again.”
CM Maryam confidently stated, “I know exactly how to ensure the protection of Punjab,” adding that the province was resilient in the face of such challenges.
Highlighting the country’s economic progress, she said, “The stock market is consistently breaking records every day,” and added that the public, who had been struggling with inflation, was now beginning to feel relief.
“The masses are happy, and that’s why their [political opponents’] calls for protests and gatherings are falling flat,” she noted.
CM Maryam also pointed out that Pakistan’s adversaries had been waiting for the country to default, but instead, under the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership, the country has seen a reduction in inflation and increased prosperity.
She praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for following the vision of Nawaz Sharif to uplift the masses. “Under his leadership, the price of roti has dropped from Rs 20 to Rs 12, and efforts to reduce power tariffs are ongoing,” CM Maryam said.
She further added, “Even remittances have risen consistently during the PML-N’s tenure.”
Earlier this week, CM Maryam also criticized PTI for using “foul” language in politics. In a media interaction in London, she stated, “Spreading unrest is part of PTI’s politics. Those who break the law will be held accountable.”
Reacting to the heckling of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in London, CM Maryam condemned the incident, saying, “We unequivocally condemn what happened with Khawaja Asif.”
Continuing her critique of PTI, she said, “Their only objective is to stage protests,” adding that “wrongdoings will lead to arrests.”
