PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is travelling to London where he is likely to meet PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to “address the present political scenario in the nation,” said The News.
Confirming Bilawal’s departure, PPP Secretary-General Farhatullah Babar informed that the PPP chairman is seeing Nawaz to congratulate him on the coalition government.
“The primary goal of seeing Nawaz Sharif is to congratulate him on the coalition government and discuss the present political situation,” he stated.
Meanwhile, sources claimed that though there was an arrangement between the PPP and the PML-N that Bilawal would take over as the foreign minister, nevertheless, he did not take oath despite attending the cabinet oath-taking ceremony as a guest a day earlier. This implied there was some difficulty in the coalition government and he wanted to settle it first.
According to reliable sources, Bilawal had hoped to meet with Nawaz Sharif to address pressing concerns in order to find a compromise. They said that Bilawal also wished to discuss with Nawaz Sharif the omission of the ANP, BNP (Mengal), and Moshin Dawar from the cabinet.
It is believed that Bilawal would take the oath of office as foreign minister upon his return from London if the negotiations with Nawaz Sharif go smoothly; they added.
Meanwhile, PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar resigned from the cabinet of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, citing health concerns.
As a minister of state, I’ve decided not to swear an oath, citing personal reasons. Statement: “I want to concentrate on the forthcoming general election, and I have notified the party of my choice. Although the PPP leadership had already approved his candidacy, he still notified the party of his decision on Monday night”.
