On Sunday, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal alleged that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is seeking an NRO for himself.
Iqbal criticized the PTI founder, pointing out that he had previously made appeals to the Congress in the United States and often voiced his opinions on various platforms within Pakistan.
“The PTI founder is now trying to secure an NRO for his leadership,” Iqbal remarked. “While he was relentless in demanding accountability from others, he is now causing a commotion when it comes to facing scrutiny himself.”
Iqbal also noted that the PTI founder is now questioning the system, despite having previously initiated baseless cases against political opponents. “We faced those cases in court, proved our innocence, and had all the charges dismissed,” he said.
The minister further highlighted that the PTI founder is entangled in serious allegations, including a £190 million corruption case. Iqbal suggested that the PTI founder received foreign funding with the intent to destabilize the country’s economy.
“The purpose of this foreign funding was to harm Pakistan’s economic stability,” he asserted.
Iqbal concluded by affirming that the PTI founder’s campaign against state institutions was clearly orchestrated under specific orders.
“There is no doubt about the motivations behind the PTI founder’s actions against our state institutions,” Iqbal added.
