A treason complaint had been filed against Khan in Attock and Khan was on his way to Islamabad when he was detained, Dawn Reported.
Attorney Ashfaq said his client was the target of 17 separate treason investigations in Punjab and that he would be filing a contempt of court action against the police.
Fawad Chaudhry, vice president of the PTI, has issued a strong condemnation of the detention and expressed confidence that the courts would take appropriate action.
Farrukh Habib, the PTI’s central secretary for information, posted a video on the organization’s website on the arrest of the journalist.
Asad Umar, the head of the PTI, issued a strong statement of condemnation following the arrest.
Ali Haider Zaidi, leader of the PTI, has also spoken out against the attack and declared that the nation stands with Khan.
The journalist said he was intimidated after asking questions to military sources regarding the current political and economic crisis in a recent video posted to his YouTube account in which he directly addressed Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Khan, Sabir Shakir, Arshad Sharif, Sami Ibrahim, and Moeed Pirzada are only some of the prominent journalists and anchors who have had lawsuits filed against them for inciting hatred against the armed forces and other state institutions.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan spoke out against the filing of criminal charges against the aforementioned individuals in a video message earlier today.
A number of sedition proceedings had been filed against Khan, and in May, the Lahore High Court granted him protective bail.
