Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Battagram district have registered a case against seven people, including a police sub-inspector, for allegedly torturing the family of a five-year-old child who was sexually assaulted in Allai tehsil.
The incident followed the arrest of a suspect earlier this week after the child reportedly suffered sexual abuse. According to police, the suspect’s relatives allegedly attacked the victim’s family after they filed a complaint and discussed the incident with the media.
Police Officer Suspended Over Alleged Torture
Battagram District Police Officer Qamar Hayat Khan confirmed that authorities had registered a case against the seven suspects. He said Deputy Superintendent of Police Amjad Ali would lead an inquiry into the allegations.
Furthermore, police suspended Sub-Inspector Naeemullah over his alleged involvement in the incident. Authorities also named six other suspects in the case: Amir, Waqas, Ayub, Rookh Islam, Abdullah and Abdul Wahab.
Police teams are working to arrest the suspects, while investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault on the child’s relatives. Officials have not announced any further arrests in connection with the case.
Authorities Promise Protection For Victim’s Family
The district police chief said authorities would provide security to the victim’s family to prevent further intimidation or violence. The investigation aims to establish the role of each suspect and determine the circumstances of the alleged torture.
The case has raised concerns about the safety of families who report crimes against children and cooperate with law enforcement. Such incidents can discourage victims and their relatives from pursuing justice, particularly when they face pressure from people connected to suspects.
Meanwhile, police continue investigating the allegations and pursuing those named in the complaint. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the child’s condition or the specific injuries allegedly sustained by the family members.
The investigation will determine whether the accused face further legal proceedings as police work to protect the victim’s relatives and establish accountability.
