A Crime Control Department (CCD) constable lost his life after armed attackers opened fire on him in Sheikhupura. The incident, which CCTV cameras also captured, left the officer critically injured before he later succumbed to his wounds despite receiving medical treatment.
Punjab Police condemned the attack and paid tribute to the martyred officer for his dedication and sacrifice. Officials also assured full support to his bereaved family and vowed to arrest those responsible.
CCTV Footage Captures Deadly Attack
According to police, the attackers targeted the constable after spotting him and opened fire, causing critical injuries.
Rescue teams rushed the officer for medical treatment. However, doctors could not save his life.
Authorities have launched an investigation and continue efforts to trace and arrest the suspects involved in the attack.
Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to bringing the accused to justice and ensuring strict legal action.
Funeral Offered With Full State Honors
The funeral prayers of Constable Saghar Nishan Hanjra took place with official honors at Police Line Sheikhupura.
Several senior police officials attended the ceremony to pay their respects. Those present included RPO Sheikhupura Range Athar Ismail, DIG CCD Waqas-ul-Hassan, DPO Sheikhupura Bilal Zafar Sheikh, SSP CCD Nausher Awan, and SP Hanan.
Police officers, government representatives, members of the legal community, business leaders, political figures, journalists, and a large number of citizens also joined the funeral.
Among the attendees were Press Club President Azeem Ahmed Yazdani and District Bar Association President Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed Virk.
Punjab Police Vow to Bring Suspects to Justice
Punjab Police honored Constable Saghar Nishan Hanjra for his service and sacrifice.
Officials pledged complete support for the martyr’s family and promised to continue the investigation until all suspects are arrested.
The department reiterated that those responsible for the attack will face the full force of the law.
