Poco M8x Brings 120Hz Display and Huge Battery to Mid-Range Segment
Poco has officially launched the Poco M8x 5G in India, expanding its M-series smartphone lineup with a massive battery, a new Qualcomm processor and long-term software support.
The smartphone is among the first devices in India powered by Qualcommโs Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. It is aimed at users looking for long battery life and everyday 5G performance without moving into the premium price segment.
One of the biggest highlights is its 7,900mAh battery, considerably larger than the batteries found in many mainstream smartphones.
The phone supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. This means users can also use the Poco M8x to provide power to other compatible devices through a cable.
Despite the unusually large battery, the handset measures around 8.8mm thick and weighs approximately 232 grams.
6.9-Inch 120Hz Display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and Android 16
The Poco M8x features a large 6.9-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The screen also offers up to 825 nits of brightness and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
A centred punch-hole houses the selfie camera.
Under the hood, the smartphone uses Qualcommโs Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 mobile platform.
It is paired with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
A dedicated microSD card slot allows users to expand storage further.
The device ships with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
Poco has promised four major Android operating system upgrades and six years of security support, giving the affordable device an unusually long software support period.
The Poco M8x also retains features that have disappeared from many newer smartphones.
These include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The handset also carries an IP64 rating, providing protection against dust and water splashes.
The smartphone is available in Leather Green, Black and Blue.
The Leather Green version uses a vegan leather-style rear finish, giving it a different appearance from the standard models.
50MP Camera and Competitive Pricing
For photography, the Poco M8x features a 50-megapixel primary rear camera accompanied by an auxiliary sensor and LED flash.
The main camera supports phase-detection autofocus and 1080p video recording.
An 8-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.
Poco has launched two memory configurations.
The 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs โน20,999, while the 6GB RAM and 128GB version is priced at โน22,999.
A launch coupon reduces the effective introductory prices to โน18,999 and โน20,999, respectively.
The โน18,999 introductory price is roughly equivalent to $220, depending on exchange rates. Therefore, the $220 figure refers more closely to the promotional effective price rather than the standard retail price.
Sales are scheduled to begin in India through Flipkart on August 27, 2026.
There is currently no confirmed official Pakistan launch price. Local listings describing prices in Pakistan should therefore be treated as estimates until Poco announces availability for the Pakistani market.
With its 7,900mAh battery, 120Hz screen, headphone jack, expandable storage and extended software support, the Poco M8x is positioned as a battery-focused mid-range smartphone for users prioritising endurance and practical features.
