ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Scheme has crossed the Rs 100 billion mark in housing loan disbursements within six months. It highlights growing demand for affordable housing finance across the country.
The government launched the initiative to help low-and middle-income families purchase or construct homes through accessible bank financing.
According to figures shared by Finance Ministry officials, approved financing under the programme reached Rs 511 billion by October 23, compared with Rs148 billion in June 2026. Actual loan disbursements also increased substantially, rising from Rs21 billion to Rs91 billion during the same period.
Banks received 217,001 applications, of which 86,896 were approved. The number of beneficiaries receiving disbursed loans reached 15,584, while the approval rate improved from 28 percent to 40 percent.
The programme is also expected to stimulate economic activity by increasing demand for construction materials, cement, steel and related services.
Meanwhile, the government is working to accelerate loan disbursements and address financing constraints in the housing sector. Officials are also considering measures to expand financing opportunities for builders and developers.
The milestone reflects the government’s efforts to expand formal housing finance and improve homeownership opportunities for Pakistani families.
