PML-N’s seats to reach 30 with reserved seats
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said PML-N secured 24 seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections. He said all three election phases had concluded, with PML-N emerging as the leading party.
According to Chaudhry, the party will receive three women’s reserved seats and three other reserved seats under the applicable formula.
Consequently, PML-N’s total strength in the AJK Legislative Assembly will reach 30 seats.
The additional seats include representation for overseas Pakistanis, technocrats, and Ulema and Mashaikh.
Assembly session scheduled next week
Chaudhry said the AJK Assembly would meet next week for newly elected members to take their oaths.
The assembly will also hold elections for reserved seats during the session.
Furthermore, elections for the speaker and AJK prime minister will take place next week.
The minister stressed the need for a stable and strong government in AJK amid current circumstances.
He described the elections as free, fair and credible, adding that authorities would show zero tolerance for irregularities.
Chaudhry said police arrested a person who allegedly took a ballot box from a polling station in LA-6 Mirpur.
He congratulated the administration, law enforcement agencies and Election Commission for conducting transparent elections.
Regarding Haveli, he called for a transparent investigation into rigging allegations raised by PML-N candidate Mohsin Aziz.
He expressed hope that the Election Commission would examine and resolve the constituency’s complaints strictly on merit.
